Stairs cut into a hillside are a restriction.
They say, "Hey! You can't go up the hill there! Only here! This is the only place you can climb this hill, buddy!"
Don't put limits on me like that.

I am so liking this, evil hill killing people, take all the joy out of hills in favor of stairs.
I understand what you are saying, but don't you think that some limitations or restrictions are better than none at all? Think of our lives in relation to God's commandments. Is it not a freeing experience to have boundaries, or do you mean to say that you dislike all limitations?
Perhaps you should look at the stairs not as the limitation, but rather a constructive path. Usually it is showing you the most efficient way to go. Just as we study history so we won't "reinvent the wheel," probably many people have traveled that hill and someone finally decided "let's make it a little easier for everyone and put some stairs right here."
I'm not trying to convince you that all stairs on all hills are a good idea and that we should follow man's path. Lord knows how the world wants us to give in and just go with the flow. We should be willing to step away from what is easy and make the choice to do what is the Lord's will.
So next time you head toward that particular hill, know that God has given us many choices -- all that we must do is make a decision.

One of those rare occasions where a comment is actually longer than the post itself.
So is it the brilliancy of the author of such a post that invokes ideas to the commenters? Or is it the brilliancy of the commenter that can interpet so much from something so simple?
The quad! This is very annoying. But I think even more annoying than that are sidewalks placed awkwardly in the middle of large patches of grass. They are never the quicker way to go, it's always quicker to cut through the grass. But then there are "those people" who think it rude to walk on the grass. What?
Rude people like Germans who yell: "Defense de marcher sur le gazon!"
